EOS-06 Ku-Band Scatterometer Level-1B (L1B) product consists of scan mode sigma-0 data, which is the normalized radar backscatter coefficient, and serves as the rawest form of scatterometer data from the Oceansat-3 mission. The L1B is a fundamental, unprocessed data product that forms the basis for deriving more complex geophysical parameters. The L1B product is based on scan mode data, which captures measurements in the path of the satellite path across the surface of the Earth surface, as opposed to the grid mode data in higher-level products. Level-1B products are available for half orbits viz., South Pole to North Pole or North Pole to South Pole for all 14-15 orbits per day. This product contains information about the intensity of the backscattered signal and is used to generate higher-level products, such as wind and wind stress fields, which are essential for applications like weather forecasting, climate studies, and marine resource management.
